Cutting CO2 is a challenge we all must face. Solve the puzzle—one cut will suffice.
“Fold-and-Cut-Theorem”
For any shape with straight edges there is a way to fold a piece of paper so that this shape can be cut out with a single straight cut. The theorem was proved in 1998 by Anna Lubiw, and Martin and Erik Demaine; first examples by Kan Chu Sen were already seen in 1721 in Wakoku Chiyekurabe, Japan.
This puzzle was part of the arts-led project called Carbon Deli designed to engage the public in conversations around carbon removal technologies that launched at The Great Exhibition Road Festival (2022).
