The UYE Club (Uganda Youth for the Environment) was founded in 2022 at the initiative of Maurice Ssebisubi. Maurice is a Senior Programme Officer at the Iceland embassy in Uganda, and an educator, who travels throughout the country to teach kids about climate change.
As part of this project, he would extensively play test the Kampala Yénkya game with participating secondary schools (Ngogwe Baskerville Secondary School, Victoria Ssi Secondary School, Sacred Heart Secondary School and Nyenga Secondary School).

“It made me feel comfortable and happy”

“Yes, I have learnt that everything can change according to the way we think or live”

“I would like to know if Uganda can stop practicing deforestation in the future”

“The action I think I can take now for climate justice is planting trees”
“To stop polluting the environment, to sensitize people to stop cutting trees”
“I think of practicing agroforestry, using electricity to cook in order to avoid deforestation”
